‘Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people.’-Carl Gustav Jung
“In order for the light to shine so brightly, the darkness must be present.” – Francis Bacon
Dark
Dark – Dictionary Definition : Vocabulary.com

Dark comes from the Proto-Germanic word derkaz, which means “to hide or conceal.” This meaning is preserved in the phrase kept in the dark, meaning having no knowledge of.

Matter definition, the substance or substances of which any physical object consists or is composed: the matter of which the earth is made. See more. Crux of the matter · Gray matter · For that matter · No matter
Perception
Dark is the absence of light. However darkness, in scientific terms is different from dark as it alters the perception. Specifically, the eye is an amazing organ in that when looking at a black and white object, it will automatically produces an image from the unstimulated part of the retina. Since dark physically (physics) absorbs photons (light, light waves or electromagnetic particles of light) therefore that part that is not light or considered light (dark or darkness) is not stimulated.
Christianity
Both were created and from the darkness, light was created to differentiate one from the other. Like the Sun and the Moon they were both made and reflect or are interdependent, not just opposites.
Space and Science – There is Dark Matter and Dark Energy
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_matter
Dark matter is an unidentified type of matter distinct from dark energy, baryonic matter (ordinary matter), and neutrinos. The name refers to the fact that it does not emit or interact with electromagnetic radiation, such as light, and is thus invisible to the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

…one thing was fairly certain about the expansion of the universe. It might have enough energy density to stop its expansion and recollapse, it might have so little energy density that it would never stop expanding, but gravity was certain to slow the expansion as time went on. Granted, the slowing had not been observed, but, theoretically, the universe had to slow. The universe is full of matter and the attractive force of gravity pulls all matter together.”
There is something that exists that does not interact with light (electromagnetic radiation).
And there is according to scientists at NASA, DARK ENERGY
What Is Dark Energy?
“More is unknown than is known. We know how much dark energy there is because we know how it affects the universe’s expansion. Other than that, it is a complete mystery. But it is an important mystery. It turns out that roughly 68% of the universe is dark energy. Dark matter makes up about 27%. The rest – everything on Earth, everything ever observed with all of our instruments, all normal matter – adds up to less than 5% of the universe.”

The DARK MATTERS-As Above So Below-As Within so Without
So there you have, info is pulled from sources who could explain it much more succinctly than I. The Dark Matters, and in fact is in the majority as opposed to light (electromagnetic radiation, photons). However, we have read many esoteric references that explain matters here on Earth as possibly opposite of Heaven or, as above so below, as within so without.. This excerpt/saying comes from the Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus. Hermes was a philosopher and wrote a Romanized adaptation of some of the beliefs written about the Egyptian God Thoth and his relationship with humans or at that time the Egyptian Kings who were acting incarnate of the God(s). By observing the relation of one thing say dark to light (Yin and Yang), Heaven and Earth, Man and Nature, you gain knowledge of the reflected whole. This wisdom suggests that one thing supported and reinforced the other. The mirror image of the Cosmos (Universe) as a complex but orderly or harmonious (laws of nature and science) system as opposed to chaos.
So the DARK Matters and is needed. It can be explained and utilized for comparison, relation and gaining of knowledge. That is what we aim for everyday, the gaining of knowledge. To heal identity and empower, with knowledge.
